Stronger Together: Why the Future of the CDR and Open Finance Hinges on Industry Collaboration
Australia’s Consumer Data Right has now been live for three years and will soon expand into the Non-Bank Lending sector. But progress has been slow, as participants cope with a number of issues, from inconsistent compliance with government standards, to data quality problems, and delays in new CDR capabilities and industry designations.
Biza’s view is that the fintech industry has an important role to play in the progress of the CDR, and that implementers are strongly placed to drive the design of the next phase of the ecosystem’s standards. In conjunction with government, industry can work towards a common goal, based on our in-the-trenches experience over the last three years.
In response, Biza.io recently kickstarted the DataRight Plus initiative. DataRight Plus aims to provide an incubator for feature enhancements beyond the mandated obligations, enabling the growth of the Consumer Data Right through open industry collaboration, and already has 65 active participants working towards the release of a draft standard.
Mark will discuss the state of the CDR ecosystem three years after its launch, the goals for DataRight Plus, how people can participate and what it means for the CDR and Open Finance in Australia for the coming future.
Mark Perry from Biza.io was a member of the Data Standards Advisory Committee for two years and has been involved in the CDR since 2017.
