Since October 2018, Albert has led payments innovation and strategy for CBA across retail, business and institutional client segments. Albert also has accountability for delivery of large group-wide projects and management of the Bank’s relationship with payments regulators and industry bodies. Prior to this Albert led the Strategic Initiatives and Industry Solutions teams of senior banking professionals tasked with designing and delivering a number of large new technology programs enabling leading edge working capital and analytics capabilities for CBA’s business, corporate, institutional and government clients. Albert’s remit includes the commercialisation of emerging technology including the New Payments Platform, APIs, distributed ledger technologies and virtual accounts, as well as building out the Bank’s international payments and cash management capabilities.
Albert has also been Chief Operating Officer, Americas, for CBA based in New York where he was responsible for overall operations, client on-boarding, premises and communications in the Americas. Albert played an integral role, together with the rest of the Americas leadership team, in strengthening the culture, governance and operational frameworks of the Americas business, and positioning it for the success it has enjoyed in recent times.
Albert played a significant role in several other major initiatives including securing the Bank’s Financial Company Holding status, drafting the United States Resolution Plan, the establishment of the Americas client on-boarding team, three office fit-out projects and was an active member of the Branch’s local culture committee. Albert was a member of the Americas Leadership Team, Risk Governance Committee and Assets & Liabilities Committee.
Albert has 20 years’ experience in financial services across general management, strategy, business development, corporate and regulatory affairs, and operations. Prior to joining the Bank, he was at MasterCard Worldwide where he held various senior management positions in the Australasian business, most recently serving as Country Manager for its New Zealand business.
Albert holds a Bachelor of Laws from University of New England in Australia and Bachelor of Commerce from Macquarie University, Australia. Albert is a father to three wildly different boys who keep him and his wife busy and constantly entertained.
