Andy Stewart has been building and leading alternative investment businesses across some of the most successful asset management firms and global banks.
Most recently, Andy co-led Blackrock’s Alternative Investment Platform (BAI), leading all investment teams focused on non-traditional assets and strategies. He helped grow the business to over $120 billion in assets under management and more than $1.2 billion in revenues. Andy helped BAI evolve into a core driver of investment returns and evaluate and execute multiple acquisitions, including a leading Asian and European real estate business and middle market lending platform. Andy chaired BAI’s Executive Committee and was a member of the BAI investment committees as well as Blackrock’s global operating and human capital committees.
At Credit Suisse, Andy helped build the alternatives business into a core driver of profitability, as well as manage the investment teams across hedge fund strategies in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America and global credit, commodities, and insurance teams. Andy led the growth and refocusing on core competitive capabilities where Credit Suisse still maintains market-leading businesses. Before joining Credit Suisse, Andy helped build Man Investments into one of the largest publicly traded alternative asset management firms in the world with over £5 billion in market cap.
Andy received a J.D., cum laude, from the Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington where he served as an Editor of the Indiana Law Journal, and a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a CAIA charter-holder.
